Forces Radio BFBS

30 October 2018

2018 is a big anniversary year for the forces, commemorating 100 years since the end of the Great War… and 2018 also marks Forces Radio BFBS 75th anniversary!

To celebrate 75 years and to mark their development onto DAB+ Forces Radio BFBS created a new content series named On Track With… which features a different celebrity each week alongside the station’s daytime presenters.

Forces Radio BFBS are a non-commercial, totally ad-free broadcaster with charitable status, which entertains, informs, connects and champions the British Forces communities, operating in over 20 countries across the world.

To kick start the show Frank PR asked for our help in sourcing some famous faces to raise some awareness of the efforts serving men and women go through in day to day life, by taking part in an exhilarating military vehicles skill test.

We got in touch with Heart FM and TV Presenter Jenni Falconer, footballing legend Stuart Pearce MBE and Love Island’s loyalist contestant Georgia Steel to cover Forces Radio BFBS’s target audiences – family orientated, ex-service veterans and current young serving UK military people.

Taking part in an ‘obstacle course’, they each faced a set of three skills that must be passed to enter into the military. This consisted of The Abbot Course, The Swim and The Knife Edge Balance. Driving vehicles through mud, puddles, submerging themselves fully in water and balancing from a ledge without causing the tank to drop off the edge.

They each took part in a full day filming, driving the vehicles at “Tanks A Lot” in Brackley, Northamptonshire, photographs, interviews and then a pre-recorded interview at Forces Radio BFBS for airing later in the year.
