Grandparents play such a crucial role in our lives and it’s not often we take the time to celebrate all they have done for us so Grandparents Day, on Sunday 1st October 2017, was the perfect occasion to honour all the wonderful, kind and thoughtful grandparents across the UK.
Age UK’s aim was to encourage families across the nation to connect with their grandparents, to share what makes them awesome and bring smiles by sharing memories and stories in remembrance of those no longer with us. It was also an opportunity to help the charity highlight the need to support those in later life, with the darker, colder nights upon us it’s people like our Grandma or Grandad that are most affected at this time of year by loneliness and the care crisis.
We received a huge amount of support, with many people spending extra time with their grandparents and sharing special memories in aid of Age UK. Thank you to EVERYONE that uploaded their #Grandpics – including actor Jack O’Connell, The Vamp’s Connor Ball, Kimberley Walsh, Sigala, Edith Bowman, Calum Scott, Katherine Kelly, JB Gill, Catherine Tyldesley, Marcel Somerville and many, many more.
